Payments run through your connected Stripe account. You do not need to apply for a separate terminal merchant number.

Portable reader questions

Plan the event setup.

What payments can the Bluetooth card reader take?

It takes Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and other contactless wallets. Amex and UnionPay are available once enabled on your connected Stripe account.

Can customers insert a card and enter a PIN?

Yes. Customers can tap, or insert the card and enter a PIN—including for larger amounts above the contactless limit.

What do I need to use the reader?

You need Lazygrid POS on a compatible iPad or iPhone and a connected Stripe account. The reader pairs to the device over Bluetooth.

How much is short-term card reader rental?

Short-term rental is NZ$50 per week, per reader, and includes one week of Lazygrid POS. Freight is charged separately in both directions.

How does the rental deposit work?

The deposit is held on your card as a pre-authorisation and released when the reader comes back—you're never charged.

How much is freight for a rental?

Freight starts from NZ$11 each way, with NZ$5 added for each additional reader in the same shipment. The outbound and return shipments are charged separately.

Can I rent the reader for longer?

Yes. Long-term rental is available by quote. Tell us how often and where you trade, and we will recommend the right setup.

How much could I save for a one-week event?

Using publicly listed New Zealand short-term hire pricing, Lazygrid can be about NZ$118 less in fixed setup costs for one separate event week. That compares NZ$72 for a Lazygrid weekly rental plus standard return freight with NZ$189.75 for one published short-term terminal, network and courier package including GST. Payment processing fees are separate and vary by provider and card mix.
